This is the name of our 2010 Land of Spirit production - Ahhhhhh Shot in the Arm. It’s going to be about healing - by doctors, nurses, midwives, and spiritual healing! Jules has collected a wonderful assortment of stories that deal with medicine in the old days of Franklin County - including stories from: Barbara Brown Whitman about her father - Dr. Brown and the many Franklin County folks he brought into this world; Dr. Robert Sullivan told his stories of serving this community for 50+ years and how the world of health care changed with each new discovery of medicines; Dr. Williams and his service to Lavonia area; lots of community folk who told stories about talking the fire out of somone, or local legends who treated little babies with home remedies, and the removal of warts, etc.; and, we can’t forget the wonderful stories by Zadie Pruitt Gaines about her father who deliverd folks back to God after they served their time on earth; it’s going to be a wonderful production that has stories from all parts of our county - yep, it’s truly a Franklin County Folk Life Play - full of the spirit of our people!
